What are the sources of chondroitin & glucosamine, and how are they added to the product?

Chondroitin & glucosamine are found naturally in the ingredients used in Black Hawk and are also added to the Black Hawk Original and Grain Free Dog recipes.

The meat, such as chicken meal or lamb meal is a source of chondroitin. The added chondroitin is derived from beef cartilage and the glucosamine comes from shell fish.

Are the ingredients listed in the product by wet weight or dry weight?

We always use dehydrated mass in our calculations of percentage of inclusion of ingredients in our recipes. All ingredients are dried and concentrated which helps them to withstand the cooking temperatures in the extrusion process.

Are vitamins and minerals added to Black Hawk?

Where possible vitamins and minerals come from the food ingredients used in Black Hawk. During the cooking of food some nutrients are lost, much the same as when we cook our own food.

These nutrients are added in via a vitamin and mineral mix to ensure that our pet foods are complete and balanced and will meet the nutritional requirements of the pet they are designed for.

You can see what vitamins & minerals are added to Black Hawk foods on pack or on the product information pages.
