Q: What are the benefits of emu oil for dog health?

Emu oil is a really good source of Omega 3, 6, and 9. Omegas 3 and 6 are essential fatty acids, meaning that they can’t be made by the body. They therefore must be provided by the diet. Omega 3 fatty acids are required for many body processes including for healthy eyes and brains and to respond to inflammation. Omega 6 fatty acids are needed for growth, reproduction and for the dealing with inflammation. The anti-inflammatory effects of omega 3 are particularly beneficial for dogs with skin and/or joint disease. Deficiencies in fatty acids will lead to delayed wound healing, dry and unhealthy coats and poor skin health.

DHA, an omega 3 fatty acid, is particularly important for puppies in aiding their brain and eye development and in effective learning.

At Black Hawk, we believe optimal health is achieved by providing a complete diet using ingredients derived as closely from their natural state as possible. Hence our phrase Every ingredient matters that you’ll see on our products.
